Manchester United’s Ashley Young is part of “the cool corner” of the team’s dressing room… but its real power may lie elsewhere.
The winger sits with England captain Wayne Rooney, Ivorian centre-back Eric Bailly and Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
But it hasn’t always been this way. Last season Young said the corner seats at Old Trafford were really quiet with just him and “Wazza”.
Now they are the focus of attention, he revealed in an exclusive interview with DRDJ. He said: “Now Eric’s there, me, Wazza and Ibra, which grabs the attention of the rest of the squad.”
He added: “It’s quite a cool corner actually… it’s the corner that everyone looks over, like, ‘Oh, what’s going on over there?’”
But then he realised that his corner crew might not be the real attraction. The main draw might be the multiple plug sockets that are in that area, too.
He quickly added: “I think it’s because we have the plug sockets as well and everyone wants to charge phones and laptops before they travel.
“Yeah, that might be it.”
