There’s something about Christmas that drives Wales rugby player Jamie Roberts nuts.
The festive season always gives him a craving for pistachios washed down with mulled wine.
The Harlequins centre says in an exclusive video with FUEL that his family likes a traditional Christmas dinner.
“Usually we go to my parents, myself and my brother, and have turkey.
“We have stuffing and all the trimmings: Yorkshires, boiled potatoes, roasties, pigs in blankets, all the veg.
“Every year we have prawn cocktail for starter and Christmas pudding for dessert. We’re quite traditional,” said Roberts.
And apart from the main meal there are loads of snacks.
He said: “Pistachios, I get addicted to pistachios every year at Christmas. I never eat them throughout the year. Pistachios and M&S mulled wine, I’m a big fan.”
The British and Irish Lions giant is a qualified doctor, so he knows that 1oz (28g) of pistachios is the equivalent to 160 calories, but he’s unlikely to be worried about his calorie intake.
He already has a big reputation where his appetite is involved.
He once put a picture on Instagram of his breakfast: pork, steak, poached eggs, sweet potatoes, smoked salmon, broccoli and hummus.
