Northern lad Danny Care and his bride Jodie Henson had an unusual wedding meal – steak and ale pies and Yorkshire pudding.
Guests including the Queen’s grand-daughter Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall tucked into the unusual fare last summer at Syon House – the swanky west London home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland.
England scrum half Care told FUEL in an exclusive video after the ceremony: “We wanted a main meal that defines us, and we chose pie. So we got a really nice steak and ale pie – a big old thing and it went down a storm.”
Jodie is a Midlander, from Coventry, but was right behind the choice of a northern dish for guests to enjoy on the big day.
And apart from the pie, there was another unusual addition to the wedding breakfast.
“Jodie’s from the Midlands, but happily I’m glad that she loves Yorkshire puddings, so we threw a few Yorkshires into the wedding meal as well.
“She bought into that, so it was a typical northern meal.”
