Style icon Danny Cipriani doesn’t impress the Wasps’ boss when it comes to music – his coach reckons he’s got terrible taste.
Cipriani told how director of coaching Dai Young laughs at the music he plays before matches.
The fly-half revealed in an exclusive interview with DRDJ: “Dai’s never said: ‘I don’t want that particular song’, because he knows that before a game you’re trying to get in a particular mood.
“He just shakes his head and goes, ‘What is this nonsense?’”
Cipriani shares dressing room DJ duties with team-mates Christian Wade and Josh Bassett, who both have different tastes in music.
Cipriani said: “Dai isn’t a massive fan of mine and Christian’s music, as there’s a lot of swear words and a lot of derogatory meanings, which isn’t great.
“But some of the things the musicians say about different parts of their lives can spark things, and the beats are very catchy. So that’s the music we try to get on.”
Young hasn’t tried to ban Cipriani and Wade from their choice of Drake and Young Thug in the Ricoh Arena dressing room.
Wade is the Number One DJ, according to Cipriani, who revealed that winger Josh Bassett also creates some playlists.
He said: “I try to put on a lot of hip-hop. Wadey opts for a few more needs of the team, and Josh brings on the house music. It depends on the mood.”
