Preparation is everything for Olympic champion Chris Mears at dinner. He doesn’t just dive straight in, but chops up ALL his food in tiny pieces before he even tastes it.
“If someone’s thrown big lettuce leaves on my plate, and then I’ve got a huge onion ring, I will cut them up so finely,” he admitted in an exclusive video for FUEL.
“I will spend ages cutting it all up.
“Everyone’s halfway through their meal and I’m still cutting my lettuce and onion, putting this over on one side, putting my meat over here.”
Gold medal winning diver Chris said he gets a lot of stick from fellow divers but reckons he’s just being efficient.
Chris, who won gold in the synchronised 3m springboard event with Jack Laugher at the 2016 Rio Olympics, said: “I eat it all together. I just make sure when I’m going to eat, I’m going to eat. I’m not going to talk to you.
“It only takes me a few minutes to cut all my things up on the plate to make sure it’s all ready to go in my mouth.
“Then I start. Bang, bang, down it goes. Very efficient, no cutting corners.”
