Northampton Saints centre Luther Burrell was avoiding pies and eating fruit after England coach Eddie Jones labelled him overweight.
Burrell was speaking to team-mate James Haskell in the airport as the England team prepared for their flight down under for their Australia tour.
Streaming for Rugby Lives on Facebook Live, the pair answered questions from fans on who should make the starting fifteen for their first Test in Brisbane.
The 29-year-old Burrell said: “I’ve got a green tea. I don’t know if you saw it in his press conference in the week, he happened to mention that I was grossly overweight when I came in to the Six Nations, so cheers Eddie, mate.
“So, I’m on the green tea diet and as you can see I’ve been nibbling on my grapes.”
The duo then read out comments from fans on the Facebook Live thread.
“Someone said, ‘You’ll get hammered. Cheers, Kevin you b*****g,’” Haskell said bluntly.
“Luther should start. Mr Burrell? Is that your dad,” the Wasps back-rower asked.
“Yeah, cheers Dad,” Burrell replied laughing.
Haskell then asked the powerful centre if he’ll be reading on the upcoming flight.
Jokingly Burrell said: “Not really, mate. I didn’t go to school.”
